Two members of the For the Development of Science group started a hunger strike at one of the sub-buildings of the Yerevan State University, stating that the Government\u2019s plan to grant deferments only to \u201cexceptionally good\u201d students does not satisfy them.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe month-long negotiations have no results. Provision 22.5 of the law [envisages deferments only for students] who will be deemed \u2018exceptional\u2019 or \u2018genius.\u2019 Note, that neither the ministry of defense nor the ministry of education have no idea what the requirements are to be considered genius. We therefore are convinced that the this provision is fraught with corruption risks,\u201d Davit Petrosyan, a member of the group, wrote on his Facebook page.<\/p>\n<p>The students added that the Government has denied all the <span style=\"color: #003366;\"><strong><a style=\"color: #003366;\" href=\"http:\/\/epress.am\/en\/2017\/11\/22\/students-propose-alternative-form-of-military-service.html\">alternative proposals<\/a><\/strong><\/span> put forward by the group.<\/p>\n<!-- AddThis Advanced Settings generic via filter on the_content --><!-- AddThis Share Buttons generic via filter on the_content -->","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The month-long negotiations have no results.
