Based on extensive fieldwork, the book draws from interviews with 150 residents across ten neighborhoods in Yerevan, as well as conversations with representatives of LGBT and feminist NGOs, and nationalist initiatives. It explores the concept of &#8220;survival&#8221; in post-Soviet Armenia\u2014what exactly is being preserved when survival is invoked in the context of a nation-state?<\/p>\n<p>The publication offered a timely opportunity to speak with Shirinyan about Soviet legacies, Armenian identity, Western narratives, and the evolving role of NGOs.<\/p>\n<p><iframe title=\"Survival of a Perverse Nation.
