About two-and-a-half years ago, the working group developed by the RA Ministry of Education and Science began investigating private (not belonging to the state) post-secondary institutions on the matter of licensing.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

RA Education and Science Deputy Minister Ara Avetisyan, at a press conference today, spoke about this year’s results.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

He assured that the investigations into these private institutions were important for future progress in the country’s education system.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

“We began to investigate in stages, giving non-state institutions the opportunity to make improvements inside,” he said.\u00a0<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

This year, 28 private post-secondary institutions were investigated, half of which were given the opportunity to fix their flaws. A few departments in 6 of the institutions were suspended.\u00a0<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

Speaking on the fate of those students studying in institutions whose licenses have been suspended, Avetisyan assured that all students would be able to continue their education in state schools, including Yerevan State University, if those students make up the difference in compulsory classes required by the new institution.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

Those students on scholarships can continue their education free of charge in state schools, if the host institution accepts the private post-secondary schools’ scholarship study criteria.<\/p>\n
