Sociometr independent sociological center director Aharon Adibekian, during a press conference today, compared Armenia-Russia relations to Article 6 of the US Military Code of Conduct, which, according to Adibekian, says that if an officer is raped, she shouldn’t resist and should attempt to receive the most enjoyment out of the act (a false reference).<\/p>\n

“Russia says, I’m not lifting my foot from here for at least half a century, you won’t do anything without me,” said the sociologist.\u00a0<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

Even so, Adibekian considered extending the contract of Russia’s military base in Armenia to be a positive move.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

“It’s very good that Russia’s taking us under its military wing. But if we’re signing a contract, we must demand something in return. If they’re raping you, you should at least let them know to refer to you a little more mildly,” he said.\u00a0<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

Adibekian added that Armenia is a subject with little weight, which Russia has always needed as a space without Armenians. He said that for centuries, Russia adopts such a policy as to remove Armenians from their country. The result of that policy, according to Adibekian, is that every second family in Armenia has a family member in Russia. \u00a0<\/p>\n
