Russia might finance more than 20% of the construction work for the new Armenian Nuclear Power Plant (ANPP), said Rosatom Nuclear Energy State Corporation Director Sergey Kiryenko. As previously reported, the projected cost of this initiative is $5 billion USD.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

“The contract implies that we are cooperating in terms of equipment. Furthermore, it also assumes that, in the future, we will participate in the joint financing of the power plant,” said Kiryenko, according to RIA Novosti.\u00a0<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

Kiryenko said that a joint Armenian-Russian organization for the construction of the new power plant has been formed.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

“The organization must secure no less than 40% of the funding for construction work, while it’s planned that other investors will contribute the remaining 60%,” said the Rosatom Director.\u00a0<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

He added that since the cost of the new nuclear power plant (that is, the $5 billion USD) isn’t final, everything depends on the “nucleus” which will be produced by the plant.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Asked how much Russia will invest in the creation of the new nuclear power plant, Kiryenko said, “it’s possible, more than 20%.”\t<\/span><\/p>\n
