In the Turkish town of Sivrihisar, which is close to the city of Eski\u015f<\/span>ehir (about 330 km from Istanbul), renovation work on the Holy Triniti (Surb Errordutyun<\/span>) Armenian Church continues. <\/p>\n

As reported by Armenian-Turkish bilingual weekly Agos, the renovation work is progressing and the church’s decorative exterior will be completed by the end of this year. Work will be halted over the winter months, only to begin again next year.<\/p>\n

Holy Trinity used to belong to the Sivrihisar town hall, but has now been transfered to Turkey’s Ministry of Culture, which took on the reconstruction work. After the building has been renovated, it is to operate as a church, with a bell and a cross on the dome, and sometimes there will be concerts held in the church. <\/p>\n

Note that Holy Trinity was built in 1881; however, after the Armenian Genocide of 1915, it was neglected and turned into a dump, then used as a sort of electrical power plant. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
