Greek journalist unions are on a 24-hour strike that has put a halt to news programs, website updates and newspaper publication. The strike began at 6 am this morning and will end tomorrow at 6 am local time. <\/p>\n

Unions are demanding better working conditions and protesting private sector labour reforms in the country as it deals with its economic crisis.<\/p>\n

Tuesday’s strike at both private and state-run media follows last week’s closure of the respected To Vima newspaper’s daily print edition and takes place amid fears of layoffs in Greece’s troubled media sector, reports CTV.ca.<\/p>\n

As a result, daily newspapers will not be published Wednesday.<\/p>\n
