Armenia’s authorities are “satiated” with Georgia’s adopted policy, said MP Shirak Torosyan, responding to Epress.am’s request for comments on the US cables released by WikiLeaks which specifically referred to Armenia-Georgia relations. According to Torosyan, the leaked documents once again proves that Armenian authorities are tired of Georgia’s policy as it pertains to Armenian residents in the southern Georgian region of Samtskhe-Javakheti.<\/p>\n

“Simply based on regional stability and the good neighborly relations between the two countries, Armenia is not taking any serious steps,” said the MP. <\/p>\n

According to a cable sent from the US Embassy in Yerevan published by Russian media, in a Aug. 11, 2008 conversation between Armenia’s deputy foreign minister and a deputy US ambassador, the Armenian deputy minister expressed his dissatisfaction with the delay in Georgian cargo imported into Armenia. According to him, the Georgian side didn’t allow these goods to cross the border.<\/p>\n

In the cable, which is not available on the WikiLeaks website and cannot be verified, the Armenian deputy minister called Georgia’s attitude “hostile” and told the US diplomat that Armenia was attempting to help Georgia and intended to propose accepting 4,000 refugees and create a corridor for international aid. “What else do they want from us?” the Armenian foreign ministry official had said, according to the leaked cable. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
