“If Russia\u2019s arms deals have a probability to violate stability in any region, our country will never sell arms to that region, not to the Caucasus, Middle East, nor any region,\u201d said Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov while making comments on the reports about Russia\u2019s sale of C-300 missiles to Azerbaijan, reports APA, quoting News Armenia agency.<\/p>\n

Giving an interview to the Armenian Public Television on the eve of Russian president Dmitry Medvedev\u2019s visit to Armenia, Lavrov said C-300 were defensive weapons and implemented for missile defense of a territory. \u201cWe are selling C-300 and other arms in accordance with international law and commitments and domestic legislation.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n

Lavrov also expressed hope that no South Caucasus state is attempting to commence military actions since that would be a serious disaster. That the aggressors will never reach their goal became clear in 2008 when Georgia attempted to settle the South Ossetia issue through means not in accordance with international rights.<\/p>\n

According to the Russian FM, such developments won’t take place in resolving the Nagorno-Karabakh issue.<\/p>\n
