During Ter-Abrahamyan’s and political analyst Menua Harutyunyan’s joint press conference, which the latter, due to leaving for Georgia, didn’t attend, Ter-Abrahamyan spoke about the dangers of Russia’s interest in the region.<\/p>\n

The publicist said that Russia’s sale of C-300 missiles to Azerbaijan is explicit blackmail toward the Republic of Armenia and he expressed surprise toward Armenian political analysts, who consider the C-300 sale to be “normal” and attempt to prove to the public that it doesn’t pose a threat.<\/p>\n

Taking this opportunity, Ter-Abrahamyan said that it’s time to voice and make public the demand for the withdrawal of Russian military bases in Armenia.\u00a0<\/p>\n

“The strengthening of Russian troops is not advantageous to us because it implies a certain supremacy in the region,” he said.<\/p>\n

As for the opposition’s role during the latest developments, in Ter-Abrahamyan’s opinion, specifically in the matter of Russia extending the contract for its military base in the country, the Armenian National Congress’ (HAK) role can’t be influential since as an opposition group and one that doesn’t have the necessary leverage HAK can’t have an effect on the process.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The publicist added that, of course, the opposition will voice its opinion on these issues and will secure public activity in the near future.\u00a0<\/p>\n
