“What’s important for us is that Armenia is fully aware of the threats coming from Russia,” said Georgia’s Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Nino Kalandadze, commenting on Russian President Dmitry Medvedev’s visit to Yerevan. \u00a0

According to Kalandadze, there are traditional friendly relations between Armenia and Russia, which is their right. But Georgia is skeptical towards Medvedev’s statement, according to which Russia assumes the role of mediator in the issue of settling regional conflicts.\u00a0

“From our own experience we can say that Russia can’t take on the role of mediator during the conflict settlement,” said Kalandadze, adding that Armenia knows very well Russia’s threat toward Georgia, including in the context of regional security.<\/span><\/p>\n

“From this, we have no grounds for suspecting that Armenia will take such steps that will threaten the security of the region,” said Kalandadze.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
