Republican Party of Armenia Parliamentary Faction Leader Galust Sahakyan considers the extension of Russia’s military base in Armenia to be disconcerting.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

“It’s always a concern when a second country’s military base is placed in any country. It’s not a good thing,” he said at a press conference today.\u00a0<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

Nevertheless, according to the MP, there exists a model that can keep the world “in balance.”<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

“We don’t have any problems to discuss, because the agreement holds value not only for the entire context of Armenia-Russia agreements, but also in the region,” he said.\u00a0<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

According to Sahakyan, it’s plainly clear that there’s a centuries-old struggle in the South Caucasus between Russia and Turkey.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

“Naturally, for us, we would prefer it to be Russia and not Turkey,” he said.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

In Sahakyan’s opinion, for years Turkey has been raising its wishes connected with the South Caucasus, as if “with bloody hands, it’s going to keep the peace, create a new environment of mutual relations.”<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

But Russia, Sahakyan believes, turned out to be more resolute.\u00a0<\/p>\n
