Armenia’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) doesn’t agree with Tbilisi’s opinion that extending the term of Russia’s military base in Gyumri threatens Armenia’s sovereignty, said MFA press secretary Tigran Balayan.<\/p>\n

As reported in the press yesterday, Georgia’s MInister of Foreign Affairs Grigol Vashadze had said that the increase of Russian military bases in the South Caucasus is a big threat to Georgia, Azerbaijan and Armenia’s sovereignty.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

“We don’t agree with that opinion. Our position, connected to extending the term of Russia’s military base, has numerously been stated by the country’s leader. I think that the reports disseminated by Azerbaijan’s mass media are distorted,” said Balayan.\u00a0<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

The MFA press spokesperson also noted that a telephone conversation is going to take place today between Armenian foreign minister Edward Nalbandian and Georgia’s foreign minister Grigol Vashadze.\u00a0<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
