Armenia’s former minister of foreign affairs, Armenian National Congress (HAK) representative Alexander Arzumanyan today spoke about the recent incidents of the deaths of young men serving in Armenia’s armed forces.\u00a0<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
He said that these cases are nothing new, it’s simply that, thanks to journalists, the incidents are publicized and revealed, for which Arzumanyan gave thanks.\u00a0<\/p>\n

“This is Soviet heritage, you know, that the Armenian army is anchored to the Soviet Union army, that’s no secret, it’s something particular to all of the Soviet states. It’s a weakness for all of us, that during the last 20 years, we haven’t been able to turn the army into a more professional body, so it undergoes more public scrutiny, so that such things don’t happen,” he said.\u00a0<\/p>\n

In his words, those officers, because of whom such cases happen, must be publicly judged, so that people may know what is taking place.\u00a0<\/p>\n

“We’re talking about our children, whose lives are in danger because of some… lieutenant, general or, I don’t know, president, that’s what’s painful. It’s our issue, it’s a part of our house, that each of us relates to and we must fight against that,” said Armenia’s former foreign minister.\u00a0<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
