Armenia recognizing Nagorno-Karabakh’s (NKR) independence will change much in Armenia’s domestic politics, but won’t change a thing in the conflict resolution process, said Caucasus Institute Director Alexander Iskandaryan at a press conference today.<\/p>\n

“What will change if Armenia recognizes Nagorno-Karabakh’s independence? Will Azerbaijan or America change its policy?” asked the analyst, answering his own question by saying that essentially nothing will change. He also noted that Armenia’s position won’t increase in the international arena as a result of this move.\u00a0<\/p>\n

According to Iskandaryan, recognition of NKR’s independence will have an impact on Armenia’s and Nagorno-Karabakh’s domestic political life.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Asked whether Armenia should put forth similar resolutions to the UN (as did Azerbaijan recently), the analyst said it’s necessary to work in international sectors; however, to initiate such steps as Azerbaijan does (referring to the draft resolution on NKR submitted by Azerbaijan to the UN), in his opinion, is not necessary.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
