After 19 years of independence, what state is the Republic of Armenia in today? At a press conference, historian Rafik Tadevosyan attempted to answer this question today.<\/p>\n

“The economy is completely in crisis: there’s a chronic, severe situation in the area of agriculture. What did we do with the cognac [brandy]? We gave it to Pernod Ricard, while a few guileless [individuals] became happy from that. That French company bought our cognac in order to kill it and not to develop it. <\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
“What’s the situation in the education sector? That disgraceful 12-year education program, which they argue that abroad, our ten-year secondary [school] and five-year university education doesn’t meet European standards. What, we’re educating a new generation, so that they will go abroad and live well? Don’t you smell state treachery from this?” said Tadevosyan angrily, as well as adding that even the church isn’t in its place, explaining this by saying there are thousands of non-conformists in Armenia. <\/p>\n

“The scoundrel [meaning, the church] accepts bribes, saying, I’m not guilty. I’ve come from the people’s bosom, and those people give bribes, well, I’m not going to segregate myself from everything.
