“In 1995, when the contract for a Russian military base in Armenia was first signed, really, the Republicans in the National Assembly voted against it, but that was a conditioned against [vote], because the main party in government, at that time the Pan-Armenian National Movement, was in favor and signed that agreement,” said Republican Party of Armenia (HHK) Deputy Chair Razmik Zohrabyan while speaking with journalists today, responding to the question why HHK founder Ashot Navasardyan, in parliament in 1995, had voted against the presence of the Russian military base in Armenia.<\/p>\n

“Navasardyan, and there were a few people. As independents, a small counterbalance was needed, which wasn’t going to take on a significant role,” explained Zohrabyan. According to him, when the National Assembly ratifies this contract in the near future, a few individuals likewise are going to be against it.\u00a0<\/p>\n
