In the expectant, upcoming elections in Azerbaijan, certain tweaks surrounding the Nagorno-Karabakh issue will be noticed, but not more, said Armenian Revolutionary Federation\u2013Dashnaktsutyun (ARF-D) representative Vahan Hovhannisyan, while speaking to journalists today.<\/p>\n

“Azerbaijan is victim of formal democracy. It has strained a trap in which has fallen not only it [Azerbaijan], but also the entire region. Anti-Armenian sentiments begin before every election, fiery speeches will be heard, but a real flaring up won’t happen,” said Hovhannisyan.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The ARF-D representative also spoke on the issue of the Republic of Armenia recognizing Nagorno-Karabakh’s independence.<\/p>\n

“Recognizing NKR[‘s independence] shouldn’t raise any issues for Armenia: it has to pass in parliament with 131 votes in favor, and even if there are deputies who are ill, it’s all the same, they have to participate in the voting.
