RA President Serzh Sargsyan has issued a decree to build five building complexes in Armenia for Yerevan State University’s young scientists, National Academy of Sciences’ scientists, young inventors and young scientists living in the marzes (regions) of Armenia, said RA Deputy Minister of Sport and Youth Affairs Arsen Karamyan at a press conference today.\u00a0<\/p>\n

According to him, 3 residential complexes will be built in Yerevan, in the Zeitun and Avan neighborhoods, and the area below Dalma Garden Mall owned by Pyunik Pensioners’ Union, while the other 2 residential complexes will be built in the marzes (provinces) of Syunik and Tavush.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Karamyan noted that with the exception of the disaster zone (referring to the 1988 Spitak earthquake), no state-funded buildings have been built in the marzes (regions) in the last 20 years.\u00a0<\/p>\n

“I returned from Tavush marz yesterday, and let me tell you, people there are very skeptical toward this project. Of course, their concerns are understandable. Isn’t it true that for 20 years they haven’t seen anything being built?” he said.\u00a0<\/p>\n

In building these 5 building complexes, 36 billion AMD “will circulate” in Armenia’s economy, said Karamyan, emphasizing the economic aspect of the issue. “We will have 2,800 places of employment, with average monthly salaries of 150,000 to 200,000 AMD.”<\/p>\n

According to the deputy minister, around 1,050 residential units will be completed by the end of 2012.<\/p>\n

Karamyan also spoke on the cost of the units, as well as options for securing them through mortgage loans. \u00a0<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
“The units are at least 52 square meters, and a two-room [one bedroom] apartment will cost 26,000\u201327,000 USD. Also, we will have an agreement with the Central Bank in providing loans.
