“For example, can you imagine if a dolphinarium was built at the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin?” asked writer-publicist, singer and art critic Vahram Tatikyan while speaking to journalists on his upcoming hunger strike as a sign of protest against Yerevan City Hall’s decision to construct a dolphinarium (an aquarium of dolphins) in Komitas Park, near the Pantheon.<\/p>\n

“Why not? It can even be built in the yard of the National Assembly. It would be very good, our parliamentarians with [their] tired and rotten nerves will calm their nerves by watching dolphins,” he said ironically.<\/p>\n

As reported earlier, Tatikyan will begin his hunger strike \u2014 which he says has no expiry date \u2014 at 12 pm on Oct. 20 at Komitas Park.\u00a0<\/p>\n

To journalists’ observation that the aquarium in question is already 80% ready, Tatikyan said that numerous buildings in the world have been demolished, so why not this one?<\/p>\n

“I’m not going to leave there until I see how the bulldozers are demolishing the building,” he said.<\/p>\n

He added that with the support of different NGOs, a number of events will take place every day: evenings dedicated to the creative work of the artists buried in the Pantheon, exhibits, concerts and tree planting.
