The 13th Francophonie Summit under the theme of “Challenges and Visions for the future of La Francophonie” concluded on Sunday in the Swiss city of Montreux. Participating in the summit were 70 participating member countries of the international organization of polities and governments with French as the mother or customary language.<\/p>\n

Also participating in the summit was the Armenian delegation led by Armenian Minister of Foreign Affairs Edward Nalbandian.\u00a0<\/p>\n

For the first time, a provision on resolving the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict was included In a resolution on crisis situations and peace-building in La Francophonie adopted at the summit. The final paragraph of the resolution, which specifically focuses on the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, reads:<\/p>\n

“We reaffirm our full support of the efforts of the OSCE Minsk Group Co-Chairs in the peaceful resolution of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict. We urge all parties in the conflict to refrain from threat of or use of force, which will jeopardize the future of the peace process.\u00a0<\/p>\n

“We invite the parties to continue negotiations based on all the principles proposed by the Minsk Group Co-Chairs as the basis of balanced and lasting solution to this conflict.”<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
