A number of Facebook users have begin to make threats to local Armenian writer Lusine Vayachyan, who posted a Facebook event page on an Azerbaijani film festival to take place in Yerevan from Nov. 2\u20134, 2010.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
In response, the activist has decided to post each of those comments (almost exclusively written in Armenian) as her status updates beginning with the following comment by Sevak Shirachyan\u00a0 (translated into English from the original Armenian):<\/p>\n

“And aren’t you afraid that the day will come and you and your Aliyev-ian [referring to Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev] scum will respond in blood for such insolence. You are born of filth! Be at least a little ashamed of yourself and don’t appear in such public spaces, ay genesis of immoral insolence!”<\/p>\n

It’s necessary to note that there are also opposing opinions on the event page. One user, Narayan Nayaran had the following to say (translated into English from the original Armenian):<\/p>\n

“How can one speak of humanism and Christianity, if there is so much hate in him? In what way do you differ from extreme Islamists? How can man change if there is so much barbarism in him. And that shouldn’t be confused with Armenian patriotism.”<\/p>\n

On the same page, organizer Georgi Vanyan asks Facebook users to please leave Vayachyan alone.<\/p>\n

“Lusine simply disseminated information about the festival. The festival is organized by the Caucasus Center for Peace-Making Initiatives NGO, of which I am the president and naturally also the person responsible for the festival. Please, step_ccpmi@yahoo.com,” he wrote, noting the email address to write to for any complaints.\u00a0<\/p>\n
