After finding the world’s oldest leather show in a cave, dubbed Areni-1, in Armenia, Armenian experts are claiming that the world’s oldest dress has been found in the same location. Made of straw, according to experts it seems to be dated about the middle of the 4th millennium BC.<\/p>\n

Final conclusions, however, will be drawn by the University of Oxford. For now, Armenian experts can say that the straw dress, belt and other types of clothing that were uncovered were prepared in an amazing combination, with the ornaments adorning the items no less spectacular than those of today.\u00a0<\/p>\n

“The uncovered human remains [meaning items] give us, Armenians, the opportunity to discover what so far has been studied in the world once. I am talking about completely uncovering the genetic code of human remains \u2014 this has been done only once in the world, for Ireland. The problem is that it’s quite expensive, costing 60,000 euro, but human remains belonging to the period and so well preserved have not yet been uncovered; thus, history has given us this unique opportunity,” said the leader of the Armenian group of the Areni expedition Boris Gasparyan.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
