Democratic Party of Armenia leader Aram Sargsyan, participating in the joint press conference, likewise expressed his dissatisfaction with the current political arena and lack of democracy in Armenia.<\/p>\n

Both speakers in their remarks criticized the Armenian National Congress (HAK) and its leader Levon Ter-Petrossian. <\/p>\n

Aram Sargsyan qualified HAK as a “decorative opposition” (that is, just for show). Both were also critical of the parliamentary opposition, calling it “created by the government [or ruling authorities].”<\/p>\n

Asked by Epress.am how they are preparing to fight for democracy, Aram Sargsyan did not respond; however, Hayrikyan returned to 1990 and continued to criticize Levon Ter-Petrossian \u2014 as a result, not really answering the question. <\/p>\n

Hayrikyan said they had established an alliance with Aram Sargsyan in 1996 and though it’s too soon to develop the alliance now (perhaps referring to Armenia’s 2012 parliamentary elections), the possibility cannot be excluded. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
