The RA State Commission for the Protection of Economic Competition delegation led by commission chair Artak Shaboyan have left for Switzerland to participate in the 6th United Nations Conference to Review the UN Set on Competition Policy to take place in Geneva from Nov. 8\u201312.<\/p>\n

The UN conference will mark the 30th anniversary of the adoption of the United Nations Set of Multilaterally Agreed Equitable Principles and Rules for the Control of Restrictive Business Practices (United Nations Set).<\/p>\n

The UN Set is a multilateral agreement on competition policy that provides a set of equitable rules for the control of anti-competitive practices, recognizes the development dimension ofcompetition law and policy, and provides a framework for international operation and exchange of best practices.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
Every five years since the adoption of the United Nations Set, a Review Conference has been held, providing an occasion for heads of competition authorities and senior officials of developed and developing countries, including least developed countries (LDCs) and economies in transition, to establish direct contacts and networking among themselves for voluntary cooperation and the exchange of best practices.<\/p>\n

Each year, the UN conference focuses on the situation in a particular country. This year it will be Armenia. This is why UN specialists had come to Armenia earlier: they worked with Armenia’s State Commission for the Protection of Economic Competition and prepared a comprehensive report on improving competition policies and practices in Armenia, reports the RA state commission’s press office.<\/p>\n

The report will be presented to participating countries’ competition authorities and international organizations at the UN conference in Geneva.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
