From Nov. 18\u201319, Tbilisi will host a conference titled “Sustainable Land Management for Mitigating Land Degradation and Reducing Poverty in the South Caucasus Region,” reports Trend News, citing conference organizer Regional Environmental Center (REC) for the Caucasus.<\/p>\n

The conference aims to gather participant countries (Armenia, Azerbaijan and Georgia), experts and mass media representatives who will share their achievements and developments and discuss ecological trends.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
The conference calls for aiding the ecosystem, reducing poverty, ensuring food security and improving the incomes of rural farmers in the South Caucasus by combating desertification, strengthening the natural resource base and revitalizing the agricultural sector.<\/p>\n

The conference, held at the Metropolitan Hotel Sheraton Metechi Palace, will be attended by representatives of ministries, legislative branches and structures dealing with land management, as well as international and donor organizations, NGOs, academic circles, businesses, local communities and other stakeholders from Azerbaijan, Armenia and Georgia.<\/p>\n

Steering committee meetings over the past two years have been attended by representatives of REC Caucasus and CENN, organizations implementing this project, Ruzgar (partner organization in Azerbaijan), Green Lane NGO (partner organization in Armenia), and members of steering committee which represented the authorities, NGOs and scientific circles involved in the project.<\/p>\n
