The Armenian Society for the Protection of Birds (BirdLife in Armenia) is offering a public voting poll on its website to identify the “Bird of the Year 2011” in Armenia.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
According to the website, the aim of the “Bird of the Year” campaign is to attract the attention of all Armenians to the conservation of Armenia\u2019s birds and their habitats. The program will plan the conservation and research work for the bird species which will be elected by a majority of votes.<\/p>\n

The program will hold various educational events that aim to introduce bird species to the public, events with the participation of students, schoolchildren and local communities, and will organize the distribution of relevant printed material (posters, calendars, booklets, stickers) bearing the image of the “Bird of 2011 Year.”<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
The images and descriptions of birds can be viewed on the site and include such species as the Golden Eagle, the Armenian Gull, Common Quail, Caucasian Grouse, Eurasian Black Vulture and the Hoopoe.<\/p>\n
