Though there was no armor, no horses, no lances, no kings or queens, and no laying of swords on shoulders, a ceremony yesterday which saw Mr. Timothy Straight, Honorary Consul of the Royal Norwegian Consulate and Finnish Honorary Consulate, being bestowed the title of Knight, 1st class, was a huge success.<\/p>\n

Mr. Straight was inducted into the Royal Norwegian Order of Merit by the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Kingdom of Norway, Mr. Knut Hauge (seat in Moscow).<\/p>\n

A few dozen friends, NGO representatives and quite a few ambassadors, including US Ambassador to Armenia Marie L. Yovanovitch, German Ambassador to Armenia Hans-Jochen Schmidt, British Ambassador to Armenia Charles Lonsdale and many others, were fortunate to have been invited to the special occasion, which took place in Nordic House in Yerevan.<\/p>\n

Served along with wine was fabulous seafood hors d’oeuvres prepared by local resident Jussi Flemming Bioern, who was dressed in traditional Norwegian costume for the occasion. <\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
As far as is known, this is the first occasion in history that such a ceremony has taken place in the Republic of Armenia.<\/p>\n
