According to him, international recognition of new states has almost always been possible only if the new state was formerly under colonial rule. The only exception, thus far, has been Kosovo, he said.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-top: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-bottom: 0px; margin-left: 0px; font: normal normal normal 14px\/normal 'Arian AMU'; color: rgb(6, 7, 9); min-height: 16px\"><\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-top: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-bottom: 0px; margin-left: 0px; font: normal normal normal 14px\/normal 'Arian AMU'; color: rgb(6, 7, 9)\">&#8220;Remember Taiwan, which is currently able to establish diplomatic relations with only 23 countries. Mainly small and not very influential countries such as Belize, Burkina Faso, the Marhsall Islands, <span style=\"color: rgb(0, 0, 0)\">S<\/span><span style=\"font: normal normal normal 14px\/normal 'Lucida Grande'; color: rgb(0, 0, 0)\">\u00e3<\/span><span style=\"color: rgb(0, 0, 0)\">o Tom<\/span><span style=\"font: normal normal normal 14px\/normal 'Lucida Grande'; color: rgb(0, 0, 0)\">\u00e9<\/span><span style=\"color: rgb(0, 0, 0)\"> and Principe, Nauru,<\/span> Swaziland, Tuvalu. And then, mainly due to financial aid secured by these countries.
