Emmy will represent Armenia in the 2011 Eurovision Song Contest in D\u00fc<\/span>sseldorf, Germany, said Chair of Armenia’s Public TV and Radio Company Council Alexan Harutyunyan at a press conference in Yerevan today. <\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

“This year, Armenia’s Public TV and Radio Company artistic council elected singer Emmy, who, we hope, will represent our country with honor. We must all stand by her side,” he said.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

This year, unlike last year, said Harutyunyan, a contest for songs rather than singers was announced. The singer will be Emmy, while the song will be chosen from the results of the contest, the dates for which the board chair promised to announce soon. <\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

“The best will be chosen, regardless of the style,” he said.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

Asked by journalists whether Emmy had reconciled with Harutyunyan and whether she’s no longer upset with him, the singer responded: <\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

“Perhaps at that time I was hurt. After that mixed-up situation, it was expected of me to do such a thing,” she said, then turned to Harutyunyan, “Have we made up?” Harutyunyan, smiling, hugged the singer. <\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

Recall that last year, when Eva Rivas beat Emmy during the qualifying stage and became the singer to represent Armenia at Eurovision 2010, Emmy and her mother, Nadejda Sargsyan, hurled numerous accusations at the Public TV and Radio Company Council, saying the sms voting results were fraudulent. Sargsyan even mentioned taking the company to court, which, however, did not happen. <\/p>\n

After this question, model Lusine Tovmasyan, who was facilitating the discussion, asked journalists to ask questions only about the future. <\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

Speaking of the Eurovision final stage, Harutyunyan said that politics also has its place in the song contest, however, it’s not like someone decides which country is going to win the Eurovision contest.  <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
