Gathered in front of the Government of Armenia building today were Hrazdan residents and Armenian National Congress (HAK) activists with the expectation of receiving a response to a letter sent to the government on Nov. 22.<\/p>\n

Recall that on Feb. 25 of this year, the RA government made a decision which recognized 85 hectares within the administrative borders of the Artavaz village community in Kotayk marz (province) as exclusive priority, public interest lands \u2014 this area included 1.5 hectares belonging to former Armenian member of parliament, political prisoner Sasun Mikaelyan.<\/p>\n

During the last protest, Alexander Ghazaryan, the head of the Department for Reception of Citizens and Discussion of Petitions of Staff of the Government of Armenia, publicly promised to respond to the letter on Dec. 8. However, today, Ghazaryan told protest organizer Taghui Tovmasyan, “I told you, it would be in 10 days, but now you too can look in the computer, that Dec. 14 is the final deadline to respond to the letter.”<\/p>\n

In Tovmasyan’s opinion, the government has not yet decided how to deal with the case of Mikaelyan’s property. <\/p>\n

“That’s why they don’t know how to respond to us. You can’t treat citizens like this, we spoke with them, keeping all the rules of the law. But, basically, the government doesn’t accept normal activities in Armenia, they constantly want to induce provocation,” she said. <\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
“We will gather as much as necessary, until Ara Abrahamyan with his brothers and their colleague the Arab sheikh understand that, in Armenia, they can’t steal Sasun Mikaelyan’s land,” she said. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
