Artists Have Been Invited to Police"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Representatives of Art Laboratoria group of painters and artists were invited to the police station to give explanations on a graffiti art depicting imprisoned journalist, chief editor of local daily Haykakan Jamanak (&#8220;Armenian Times&#8221;) Nikol Pashinyan that appeared in one of the pedestrian underpasses of Baghramyan Blvd. in central Yerevan.<\/p>\n<p>Philosopher Artur Petrosyan and Art Laboratoria president, artist Hovhannes Margaryan had been invited to the Kentron police station.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe received a notice to appear in Kentron police station of Yerevan. My brother Araik Petrosyan and I went to police station where we were interrogated. We were asked why we had depicted graffiti of a soldier who has shot himself, the Iranian woman and Nikol Pashinyan,\u201d said Petrosyan. <\/p>\n<p>He also said that they had presented relevant explanations clarifying that the type of modern art presented by them is known in the whole world as \u201cstreet art\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe noted that by means of this type of art our organization is trying to respond to the developments of social importance like that of the demand to free political prisoner Nikol Pashinyan,\u201d said Petrosyan.<\/p>\n<p>Artur also mentioned that the explanation letters would be sent to the Prosecutor\u2019s Office. <\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Art Laboratoria&#8221; president, artist Hovhannes Margaryan said in his talk to Epress.am that it was still not clear if legal proceedings would be instituted for the environment pollution. \u201cIt is possible that legal proceedings would be instituted, the Prosecutor\u2019s Office has still to clear up if it is modern art or violation of law,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>If the law-enforcement authorities decide that Nikol Pashinyan\u2019s depiction is not a work of art the graffiti authors could be charged from 50,000 up to 100,000 drams (about $140 to $278 US).<\/p>\n<!-- AddThis Advanced Settings generic via filter on the_content --><!-- AddThis Share Buttons generic via filter on the_content -->","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>\u201cWe noted that by means of this type of art&#8230;<!-- AddThis Advanced Settings generic via filter on get_the_excerpt --><!-- AddThis Share Buttons generic via filter on get_the_excerpt --><\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":1,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"closed","ping_status":"closed","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"tstyn_error":""},"categories":[10,11],"tags":[20008,15418],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/epress.am\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/50674"}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/epress.am\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/epress.am\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/epress.am\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/users\/1"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/epress.am\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/comments?post=50674"}],"version-history":[{"count":0,"href":"https:\/\/epress.am\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/50674\/revisions"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/epress.am\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=50674"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/epress.am\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/categories?post=50674"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/epress.am\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/tags?post=50674"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
