{"id":53917,"date":"2011-01-12T18:30:59","date_gmt":"2011-01-12T14:30:59","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.epress.am\/?p=53917"},"modified":"2011-01-12T18:50:31","modified_gmt":"2011-01-12T14:50:31","slug":"notorious-russian-armenian-entrepreneurs-jail-time-extended","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/epress.am\/en\/2011\/01\/12\/notorious-russian-armenian-entrepreneurs-jail-time-extended.html","title":{"rendered":"Notorious Russian-Armenian Entrepreneur&#8217;s Jail Time Extended"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Russia&#8217;s Novgorod Regional Court dismissed appeals by attorneys of Novgorod entrepreneur Telman Mkhitaryan on extending Mkhitaryan&#8217;s term of imprisonment by 2 months.<\/p>\n<p>As reported by BaltInfo, Mkhitaryan will be kept behind bars till Feb. 22, 2011 \u2014 for a total of 5 months and 28 days.<\/p>\n<p>Recall that in 2008, a criminal case was launched against Telman Mkhitaryan and Nikolai Kravchenko, two notorious leaders of Novgorod&#8217;s criminal underworld, who were charged with large-scale extortion.<\/p>\n<p>In 2009, Mkhitaryan was placed on an international &#8220;most wanted&#8221; list. In Aug. 2010, Mkhitaryan was caught in Yerevan, Armenia, and on Oct. 22, he was extradited to Russia.<\/p>\n<p>Mkhitaryan headed several companies, most notably the Novgorod Glass Fiber Factory, and controlled a considerable section of the Russian region&#8217;s economy.
