The likelihood of endorsing a joint list of candidates in the parliamentary elections cannot be ruled out, but such an issue isn’t currently up for discussion, said Prosperous Armenia (BHK) party press spokesperson Khachik Galstyan, speaking to journalists in Yerevan today and commenting on the new statement and declaration signed by Armenia’s ruling coalition which states that they will jointly endorse a single candidate in the country’s 2013 presidential elections.<\/p>\n
According to him, the signed declaration once again established the unity of the coalition parties.<\/p>\n
“I don’t think that by signing the declaration, such a bad thing happened that Prosperous Armenia party’s rating could fall. I think, with this declaration, it’s our people, our public who won. Gagik Tsarukyan puts up what he has for the good of the people; he doesn’t live by politics. If he feels that the people’s trust in him is waning, he will call a party meeting and there will be discussion of electing a new party leader,” he said.<\/p>\n
According to him, BHK has never hidden the fact that they’ve had different approaches on some issues with the ruling authorities; however, the the coalition’s cooperation has been justified, since, “for example, it was due to this cooperation that we didn’t have serious social shocks.”<\/p>\n
Galstyan insists that BHK was not obligated to sign the declaration.<\/p>\n
“Once again, [let me say,] no. What did BHK gain? If we view the declaration from the viewpoint of global interests, then the state, the public won,” he said.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
