{"id":73851,"date":"2011-03-09T12:15:44","date_gmt":"2011-03-09T08:15:44","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.epress.am\/?p=73851"},"modified":"2011-03-09T12:17:05","modified_gmt":"2011-03-09T08:17:05","slug":"we-hope-this-time-oligarchs-lawsuit-against-newspaper-wont-be-sustained-yerkir-editor","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/epress.am\/en\/2011\/03\/09\/we-hope-this-time-oligarchs-lawsuit-against-newspaper-wont-be-sustained-yerkir-editor.html","title":{"rendered":"We Hope This Time Oligarch&#8217;s Lawsuit Against Newspaper Won&#8217;t be Sustained: Yerkir Editor"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>On Mar. 25, the Court of General Jurisdiction of Kentron and Nork Marash Administrative Districts will hear the case of Republican Party of Armenia (HHK) MP Tigran Arzakantsyan vs. local daily Yerkir (&#8220;Country&#8221;).<\/p>\n<p>As <a href=\"http:\/\/www.epress.am\/en\/2011\/02\/25\/armenian-mp-sues-yet-another-local-newspaper\/\"><span style=\"color: #000080;\"><strong>previously reported<\/strong><\/span><\/a>, Arzakantsyan claims the newspaper has sullied his honor and dignity in an article as part of a series titled \u201c131 faces and masks\u201d in Yerkir\u2019s Jan. 13 issue, and is demanding 3 million 568 thousand AMD (about $9,775 US) in compensation: 3 million AMD (about $8,219 US) for damages for insult and libel; 500,000 AMD (about $1,370 US) for lawyer fees incurred; and 68,000 AMD (about $186 US) for court expenses.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking to Epress.am, Yerkir&#8217;s chief editor Bagrat Yesayan said the paper has fulfilled all its obligations, while owner of Great Valley AC Ltd.
