{"id":80385,"date":"2011-03-29T17:58:00","date_gmt":"2011-03-29T12:58:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.epress.am\/?p=80385"},"modified":"2011-03-30T10:31:21","modified_gmt":"2011-03-30T05:31:21","slug":"armenian-language-instruction-to-increase-in-georgian-schools","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/epress.am\/en\/2011\/03\/29\/armenian-language-instruction-to-increase-in-georgian-schools.html","title":{"rendered":"Armenian  Language Instruction to Increase in Georgian Schools"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The number of hours for pupils to study the Armenian language will increase in Georgian schools that have a priority in Armenian language instruction, as per an agreement signed by Armenia&#8217;s Minister of Education and Science Armen Ashotyan and his Georgian counterpart Dmitry Shashkin in Tbilisi.<\/p>\n<p>According to the Armenian education ministry website, there will now be an equal number of hours for both Armenian and Georgian languages in these schools.<\/p>\n<p>Recall, the number of hours of Armenian language instruction was reduced in 2010, which resulted in a public outcry from the Armenian community.<\/p>\n<p>Furthermore, according to the agreement, Armenian experts will work on translating Georgian textbooks into Armenian.<\/p>\n<p>Armenian-language teachers will continue to be retrained.
