{"id":80437,"date":"2011-03-30T10:26:18","date_gmt":"2011-03-30T05:26:18","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.epress.am\/?p=80437"},"modified":"2011-03-30T10:28:30","modified_gmt":"2011-03-30T05:28:30","slug":"armenian-economist-offered-turkey-permanent-representative-to-oecd-position","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/epress.am\/en\/2011\/03\/30\/armenian-economist-offered-turkey-permanent-representative-to-oecd-position.html","title":{"rendered":"Armenian Economist Offered Turkey Permanent Representative to OECD Position"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Turkish foreign minister Ahmet Davutoglu said on Tuesday that Turkey has proposed Turkish-Armenian economist Daron Acemo\u011flu to become its permanent representative to the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) in Paris a few months ago, reports <a href=\"http:\/\/www.aa.com.tr\/en\/ingilizce-haberler\/\"><strong><span style=\"color: #000080;\">Anadolu Ajansi<\/span><\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Earlier, Turkish media had reported that an economist of Armenian descent would be appointed this position, not noting, however, the name of the economist, while local Armenian daily Azg had <a href=\"http:\/\/www.epress.am\/en\/2011\/03\/29\/prominent-economist-of-armenian-descent-to-be-turkeys-ambassador-to-france\/\"><span style=\"color: #000080;\"><strong>incorrectly noted<\/strong><\/span><\/a> that the position being offered was that of Turkish Ambassador to France.<\/p>\n<p>Asked to comment on news reports on Turkey appointing an ambassador of Armenian descent to its OECD Permanent Representation in Paris, Davutoglu said, &#8220;It&#8217;s impossible for us to subject citizens of the Republic of Turkey to discrimination on an ethical and religious basis.
