The article was on the Dink v. Turkey trial at the European Court of Human Rights (ECHR).<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.epress.am\/en\/2010\/09\/14\/european-human-rights-court-finds-turkey-guilty-in-dink-case\/\"><span style=\"color: #000080;\"><strong>Recall<\/strong><\/span><\/a>, in Sept. 2010, <a href=\"http:\/\/cmiskp.echr.coe.int\/tkp197\/view.asp?action=html&amp;documentId=873693&amp;portal=hbkm&amp;source=externalbydocnumber&amp;table=F69A27FD8FB86142BF01C1166DEA398649\"><strong><span style=\"color: #000080;\">the ECHR ruled<\/span><\/strong><\/a> that Turkish authorities violated Dink&#8217;s right to life (and lack of an effective investigation &#8211; Article 2), freedom of expression (Article 10) and right to an effective remedy (Article 13 in conjunction with Article 2) of the European Convention on Human Rights.<\/p>\n<p>G\u00f6kta\u015f accepted the prize on Sunday evening in Istanbul. This year, the jury decided to dedicate the award to Hrant Dink&#8217;s friends <a href=\"http:\/\/www.epress.am\/en\/2011\/01\/13\/turkish-journalist-nedim-sener-uncovers-more-truths-in-second-book-on-dink-murder\/\"><strong><span style=\"color: #000080;\">Nedim \u015eener<\/span><\/strong><\/a>, author of the book &#8220;Red Friday Who Broke Dink&#8217;s Pen?&#8221; and Ahmet \u015e\u0131k. Both journalists were recently arrested on charges of their alleged affiliation to Ergenekon. Note, both also previously were awarded the Metin G\u00f6ktepe Journalism Award.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking to Epress.am before the award ceremony, G\u00f6kta\u015f stressed the importance of the fact that the prize is awarded to an article that describes the position of the Turkish government in the Hrant Dink murder trial.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt is important that this prize is given to an article which mentions the real aim of the state in the Hrant Dink murder case. G\u00f6ktepe was beaten by police and died. He has become the symbol of opposition journalists.
