New Times party leader Aram Karapetyan won’t join the opposition bloc the Armenian National Congress (HAK) if there are no changes to HAK’s ideology. Karapetyan said this himself during a press conference in Yerevan today.<\/p>\n
He assured the press that a “third pre-election alliance” will definitely be created \u2014 with the Heritage Party, the Armenian Revolutionary Federation (Dashnaktsutyun) and People’s Party.<\/p>\n
“We haven’t yet decided on joining and let me say why: The New Times party, according to official data, received 4% of the vote in the last elections. And if there’s the issue of getting into parliament, we’ll have no problem in gathering that [additional] one percent, because we have all the financial and human resources to run [in elections] alone,” he explained.<\/p>\n
In Karapetyan’s opinion, the new political “rearrangements” will begin in Sept. of this year.<\/p>\n
“We receive different proposals from different [political] forces; in particular, our cooperation with the People’s Party will continue, but we’re not in a hurry since it’s still early,” he said.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
