The Georgian Labour Party called the meeting between Georgia’s Minister of Internal Affairs Ivane (Vano) Merabishvili and his Russian counterpart in the Armenian capital a “Yerevan conspiracy” and is asking for official information regarding the meeting.<\/p>\n
During a press conference Monday, party secretary Georgi (George) Gugava said “presumably anti-state plans were being developed” during the meeting.<\/p>\n
“Unlike the Georgian media, information about this meeting was disseminated by Armenian media. The topic of discussion here could’ve been the question of Russia’s accession to the World Trade Organization and the sale of Georgian Railways to Russia,” said Gugava, noting that the government is doing all this to strengthen its position of power.<\/p>\n
“They could agree only that nothing threatens their seats from Russia. Very suspicious in this regard is defense minister Bacho Akhalaia’s visit to Armenia,” he said.<\/p>\n
Note, there has been no official confirmation or information about the meeting. It is only known that Merabishvili and Russia’s Minister of the Interior Rashid Nurgaliev sat next to each other during a concert dedicated to the 10th anniversary of the Armenian police at the National Academic Opera and Ballet Theatre named after Alexander Spendiaryan.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
