{"id":87378,"date":"2011-04-20T10:35:43","date_gmt":"2011-04-20T05:35:43","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.epress.am\/?p=87378"},"modified":"2011-04-20T11:20:23","modified_gmt":"2011-04-20T06:20:23","slug":"ottoman-era-armenians-added-to-list-of-slain-turkish-journalists","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/epress.am\/en\/2011\/04\/20\/ottoman-era-armenians-added-to-list-of-slain-turkish-journalists.html","title":{"rendered":"Ottoman-era Armenians Added to List of Slain Turkish Journalists"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Following a call by a group of journalists to include Armenian journalists killed in 1915 in a list of slain journalists in Turkey by various journalists\u2019 associations, Turkey&#8217;s Contemporary Journalists Association (\u00c7GD) has announced it has added the names of nine journalists of Armenian origin killed in 1915 to their list, reports <a href=\"http:\/\/www.todayszaman.com\/news-241525-1915-armenian-reporters-added-to-slain-journalists-list.html\"><span style=\"color: #000080;\"><strong>Today&#8217;s Zaman<\/strong><\/span><\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis is the first time that a journalists\u2019 association has announced that Armenian journalists were killed in 1915,\u201d said Rober Kopta\u015f, editor-in-chief of the Turkish-Armenian weekly Agos, at a press conference yesterday.<\/p>\n<p>Ahmet Abakay, head of the \u00c7GD, said at the same conference that the association will hold a ceremony on April 24, the date when some countries commemorate the Armenian Genocide.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s been a shame that there needs to be a serious effort to update our lists. The delay is due to our ignorance.
