{"id":89771,"date":"2011-04-26T17:31:28","date_gmt":"2011-04-26T12:31:28","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.epress.am\/?p=89771"},"modified":"2011-04-26T17:31:28","modified_gmt":"2011-04-26T12:31:28","slug":"mayor-suggests-naming-island-facebook","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/epress.am\/en\/2011\/04\/26\/mayor-suggests-naming-island-facebook.html","title":{"rendered":"Mayor Suggests Naming Island Facebook"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The mayor of the Croatian island of Hvar has suggested naming one of the smaller nearby islands after the world\u2019s most famous social networking site, Facebook, reports the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.croatiantimes.com\/news\/Panorama\/2011-04-25\/18780\/_Hvar%B4s_mayor_wants_to_name_an_island_'Facebook'\"><span style=\"color: #000080;\"><strong>Croatian Times<\/strong><\/span><\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Perino Bebic sent his idea to Facebook\u2019s founder Mark Zuckerberg and invited him to spend his summer vacation on Croatia\u2019s Hvar, known as the sunniest island in the Adriatic.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We will have more information when he answers, which we hope will be soon,&#8221; Bebic said.<\/p>\n<p>It is rumoured that if Zuckerberg approves the idea, the last island in the chain of Pakleni Otoci (Pakleni Islands), Veli Vodnjak, will get the new nickname. The island is a home to a light house, a symbol for connectivity, the daily 24 Sata writes.<\/p>\n<p>Some 30 per cent of Croatians have a Facebook profile.
