{"id":94004,"date":"2011-05-10T15:49:22","date_gmt":"2011-05-10T10:49:22","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.epress.am\/?p=94004"},"modified":"2011-05-10T15:49:22","modified_gmt":"2011-05-10T10:49:22","slug":"police-chief-implicated-in-dink-murder-case-back-on-the-job","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/epress.am\/en\/2011\/05\/10\/police-chief-implicated-in-dink-murder-case-back-on-the-job.html","title":{"rendered":"Police Chief Implicated in Dink Murder Case Back on the Job"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A Turkish administrative court on Monday annulled an earlier Interior Ministry decision to demote Ramazan Aky\u00fcrek, the former head of the National Police Department&#8217;s intelligence department, over his alleged negligence in protecting Turkish-Armenian journalist Hrant Dink, reports <a href=\"http:\/\/www.todayszaman.com\/news-243363-court-annuls-demotion-of-police-chief-over-alleged-failure-to-prevent-dink-murder.html\"><span style=\"color: #000080;\"><strong>Today&#8217;s Zaman<\/strong><\/span><\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Aky\u00fcrek, who was at the helm of the intelligence department at the time, was demoted by the Interior Ministry after allegations emerged that he was among a number of police officers who had failed to prevent the assassination of the Turkish-Armenian journalist despite having credible evidence that it was imminent.<\/p>\n<p>Nineteen suspects are currently facing trial in the Dink murder case.
