Arnold Schwarzenegger of California fathered a child with a member of his household\u2019s staff more than a decade ago, prompting his wife, Maria Shriver, to move out of their house once she found out earlier this year, according to a <a href=\"http:\/\/www.latimes.com\/la-me-0517-arnold-20110517,0,4552508.story\"><span style=\"color: #000080;\"><strong>report<\/strong><\/span><\/a> in The Los Angeles Times.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAfter leaving the governor\u2019s office I told my wife about this event, which occurred over a decade ago,\u201d Schwarzenegger said in a statement issued Monday night to The Los Angeles Times.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI understand and deserve the feelings of anger and disappointment among my friends and family. There are no excuses and I take full responsibility for the hurt I have caused. I have apologized to Maria, my children and my family. I am truly sorry.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Schwarzenegger, 63, and Shriver, 55, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2011\/05\/10\/us\/politics\/10schwarzenegger.html\"><span style=\"color: #000080;\"><strong>announced their separation<\/strong><\/span><\/a> last week after 25 years of marriage but did not provide a reason for it, reports <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2011\/05\/18\/us\/18schwarzenegger.html?_r=1&amp;smid=tw-nytimes&amp;seid=auto\"><span style=\"color: #000080;\"><strong>The New York Times<\/strong><\/span><\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The Los Angeles Times, quoting an unnamed person, said Schwarzenegger, who left office in January, had supported the child financially.<\/p>\n<p>The newspaper did not identify the member of the household staff.
