{"id":99176,"date":"2011-05-26T14:19:16","date_gmt":"2011-05-26T09:19:16","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.epress.am\/?p=99176"},"modified":"2011-05-26T14:20:38","modified_gmt":"2011-05-26T09:20:38","slug":"two-confirmed-dead-in-georgia-protest-rally","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/epress.am\/en\/2011\/05\/26\/two-confirmed-dead-in-georgia-protest-rally.html","title":{"rendered":"Two Confirmed Dead in Georgia Protest Rally"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A 54-year old man died last night after the police started to disperse protesters outside parliament, a Georgian Interior Ministry official said early today, reports <a href=\"http:\/\/www.civil.ge\/eng\/article.php?id=23529\"><strong><span style=\"color: #000080;\">Civil.ge<\/span><\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Shota Utiashvili, head of the ministry\u2019s information and analytical department, said that investigation of crime scene and nature of sustained injuries indicated that the man was \u201cpresumably\u201d killed by a car from the same convoy that also killed one police officer.<\/p>\n<p>That officer&#8217;s name was Vladimir Masurashvili, while this man, reportedly a former police officer, was Nodar Tskhadadze.<\/p>\n<p>The Interior Ministry <a href=\"http:\/\/www.epress.am\/en\/2011\/05\/26\/riot-police-disperse-georgia-opposition-protests-one-police-officer-dead\/\"><strong><span style=\"color: #000080;\">said earlier<\/span><\/strong><\/a> that Masurashvili died after being struck by a car from a convoy carrying some of the protest leaders; police said that the convoy left the protest venue at a high speed after the riot police started dispersing the rally shortly after midnight.<\/p>\n<p>Utiashvili said, Tskhadadze sustained injuries at the same location where Masurashvili died: on Freedom Square, about 300 meters from the\u00a0parliament building where protesters were rallying.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSo there are two deaths.
