Iranian Tourists Give Armenia a Thumbs-Up: Survey

In the first quarter of 2011, more than 31,700 citizens of Iran visited Armenia, and this number was more than 25,000 in the month of March alone. The average age of tourists from Iran is 30–40 years old, said Mekhak Apresyan, head of the Department of Tourism at the RA Ministry of Economy, at a press conference in Yerevan today, presenting the findings of a study in which Iranian tourists in Armenia were asked to rate answers to questions on a scale of 1 to 10.

“They gave the following scores: the attractiveness of the country, 6; cleanliness of the streets, 7; accessibility of services, 6; transportation, 7; the variety of entertainment, 6; services of hotels, 6; accessibility of prices, 6; the food, 6; attitude of locals, 7,” he said.

According to Apresyan, though the scores are above average, that doesn’t mean that “everything is good, so satisfactory, that we have nothing to do.”

“In order to get a score of 10, we still have much to do,” he added.
