YouTube Clip Allegedly Shot on Mar. 1, 2008, Shows Snipers Shooting at Grigor Gevorgyan

A user by the name of martimek2008 (which is “Mar. 1, 2008” in Armenian) has uploaded yet another clip on YouTube again allegedly filmed during the events of Mar. 1–2, 2008, in Yerevan.

As previously reported, the same user had uploaded several other clips on YouTube, all of which are allegedly shot during the events of Mar. 1–2, 2008, when national police and military forces, called in to disperse the mass riots following a contested presidential election, used “excessive force and violence” which left 10 people dead and many more wounded.

The circumstances surrounding the events during these days (as well as the investigation into the people behind the murders) have still not been officially clarified.

This latest clip, uploaded on Jun. 15, 2011, is titled “Grigor Gevorgyan shot by snipers” and lasts 2 minutes and 45 seconds. The description below the video says (in Armenian) that it was shot on Mar. 1, 2008, and depicts snipers shooting at Grigor Gevorgyan, one of the 10 fatal victims, after which demonstrators are not permitted to provide assistance to Gevorgyan. Furthermore, the description notes that the body is left lying on the ground for 30 minutes and that the police don’t attempt to move the corpse. martimek2008 notes that the film was comprised of footage from two different video cameras.

As previously reported, martimek2008 has since uploaded a 41-second clip titled “See how they fire on Mar. 1, 2008,” a 58-second clip titled “Samvel Harutyunyan’s Execution… 01.03.2008,” and a 6-second clip titled “Border Troops in Liberty Square.” Note, all the clips are titled in Armenian.
