Armenian manufacturers have cut back production of eggs, citing the increase in the tariffs for gas and electricity, reports local daily Zhoghovurd, citing its own sources.
The newspaper reports that following the increase in prices, companies that have already begun slaughtering chickens will be forced to sell the eggs at 80 to 90 AMD each, which will not bring them any profits.
According to the paper, businesses raised the alarm on the end of this type of business also at state levels.
"However, no action is currently being taken at the state level to resolve the issue, as a result of which the population suffers, since the deficit of eggs continues in the country. In addition, egg manufacturers can no longer compete with [egg] importers. Eggs in Armenia are imported from Iran and Russia," reports the paper.
