Armenian Soldier Arrested Over Suspected Murder of Serviceman

Nagorno-Karabakh defense army soldier A. Khachatryan was arrested in connection with the June 2 death of fellow serviceman Khoren Harutyunyan, Armenia's Investigative Committee said Friday.

According to the official statement, Harutyunyan sustained a fatal gunshot wound at the combat position of a NKR military unit as a result of Khachatryan having violated the rules for safe firearm handling. Under the corresponding article of Armenia's criminal code, the soldier faces imprisonment for the term of 4 to 8 years if convicted of the alleged crime.
