Journalists, Activists Describe How They Were Attacked by Police

By 5:30 pm, about 10 of the 27 people arrested at a demonstration protesting the electricity price hike earlier today were released from Kentron Police Division.

They told journalists that police also used force when they were taking them to the station — in the police vehicle.

Journalists and about 60 other people were waiting for the activists outside Kentron Police Division. Prior to the activists being released, police officers urged journalists to stand back, claiming that they are obstructing the work of the police and scratching their vehicles.

At one point police officers created a human chain and began to kick at journalists' feet. As told to Epress.am by local Chorrord Ishkhanutyun newspaper reporter Ani Gevorgyan, one of the officers, Vardan Gevorgyan (no relation), slapped her face. Recall, this same officer on February 12 used force on Ani Gevorgyan, attempting to seize her camera.
